About the book

Fiction, but the author did spend nearly 20 years on ambulances. During university days, Aiken worked on emergency ambulances in Cambridge MA, which serves as the foundation and setting for the first half of the novel. Decades later, Aiken return to ambulances as a criticl care paramedic in rural Vermont, New Hampshire, and western Mass. Not true, but based on a pretty gritty life.
